Sir Edmund Hillary dead at 88

Sir Edmund Percival Hillary was a New Zealand mountaineer. He and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Nogay were the first climber known to have reached the summit of Mount Everest.
He died of heart failure on 11 January 2008, at around 9 am NZDT at the age of 88.
